Roses

Long cultivated for their flowers, perfume, medicinal remedies, roses have existed in gardens for centuries. Learn how to grow them and care for them in your garden.

This workshop will discuss the history of rose cultivation, old roses, and modern roses. Subjects covered will also include soil and site requirements, pest and disease problems and solutions, pruning, and plant selection.

Meet the Instructor
Chris Holt is a certified horticulturist and ISA-certified arborist with 43 years of practical horticultural experience. He was head gardener at the Blaylock Estate on Nelson's North Shore for 17 years and has been teaching gardening courses for the West Kootenay campuses of Selkirk College since 1992. Chris has also taught fourth-year Practical Horticulture Apprentices at BCIT. He loves to share his love of plants with others.
