Your Social Service Worker (SSW) Program certificate serves as your prerequisite for entry into either of the following Human Services diploma specialties for a total of two years study at Selkirk College. These specialties are Child & Youth Care Specialty and Social Service Worker Specialty.
Please note that students planning to transfer into a degree program at another post-secondary institution MUST check the transfer requirements of the program they wish to enrol in. It is strongly recommended that students consult with the program advisor of the receiving institution to ensure that they have all of the necessary transfer requirements.
Social Service Worker Program Pathway
There are two transfer pathways that you can pursue after taking the Social Service Worker (SSW) Program.
Complete the SSW Certificate
Step 2: Take the Human Services Diploma
Specializing in Social Service Work Speciality, Selkirk College
Step 3: Transfer into Bachelor of Social Work
Transfer to either University of Victoria or Thompson Rivers University
Complete the SSW Certificate

Specializing in Child & Youth Care Speciality, Selkirk College
Step 3: Transfer into Bachelor of Child & Youth care
Transfer to University of Victoria, Vancouver Island University, University of Fraser Valley or Douglas College.
