Get Technology Support
No matter what you're studying, technology will be part of your education. IT Services can support you with getting your student email and other accounts set up, troubleshooting issues, connecting to Wi-Fi and more. If you need help, contact the IT Service Desk.
Connecting to Wi-Fi
Students and staff can connect to free high-speed Wi-Fi at all our campuses and learning centres on the "SC-Public" network.
How do I connect?
- Follow your device manufacturer's operating manual instructions to connect to our SC-Public Wi-Fi at any of our campus locations.
- Once you connect, you will be greeted by a Selkirk College-branded click-through page.
- Please read the terms of service and select "Continue to the Internet."
What if I can't connect?
- Please update your operating system as per your device manufacturer's instruction manual and try again.
- Please reboot/restart your device and try again.
- Please document the room/location you are in, the time of day and date, the device you are using and operating system and notify our IT Helpdesk Team.
Your Student Email
Access your student email through Microsoft 365. If you're having trouble, get in touch with the IT Service Desk.
Your Passwords
Keep your online world safe by creating strong passwords—81 per cent of data breaches used stolen or weak passwords.
Setting up your passwords: Moodle, webmail and computers
You will receive a default password (that works for Moodle, webmail and computers).
Your username is your whole name in lowercase.
Your initial password is first initial, last initial and then your date of birth in the following format: YYYYMMDD. So, if your name is John Doe and your birthday is September 1, 1980, your username would be johndoe and the password would be JD-19800901. You will log in with this password and can then change it at any time.
If you change your password in webmail, it will also change your login password. NOTE: This DOES NOT APPLY to Spectrum or iLearn students.
If you are a returning student, please use the password you used last year.
Changing your password
- Log into the password portal.
- Supply your username for your network account. Hint: your first and last name combined up to a maximum of 18 characters in length (e.g., John Doe would be johndoe).
- Usernames are not case sensitive, but passwords are.
- If you are unsuccessful at either logging in or changing your password, please submit a ticket through the IT Service Desk.
