The S-100 is considered basic fire suppression training for contract crews. Required by WCB for all forest workers who may fight fires. Learn how to safely and effectively perform wildland fire suppression tasks. The S-185 component is intended as a general knowledge course on wildfire safety and entrapment avoidance for local governments, contract crews, and First Nations. The S-100/S-185 is a two-day, 16-hour course with both a classroom and a field component. Students will receive signed certificates following successful completion of the course which are good for one year from date of delivery.
S-100 Fire Suppression
Participants learn the fundamentals of firefighting, fire line safety, portable pumps and water delivery systems. All forest workers whose duties may include firefighting are required by WCB OHSR's to have this training. This training includes S-130 Fundamentals, S-190 Fireline Safety, S-232 Portable Pumps and Water Delivery Systems.
S-185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance
Participants learn the fundamentals of fire entrapment avoidance safe work procedures. WCB OHSRs require all forest workers whose duties may include firefighting to have this training.
