About the Artist

A photo of ceramic artist Eva McKimm-Myers

Since graduating from Selkirk College, Eva has maintained her studio practice making functional pottery in her home studio on Kootenay Lake.

The ceramics process is a valuable source of expression and practice for Eva. As the owner and maker of Myers-McKimm Ceramics for the past 25 years, she has spent most of her career focused on the functional canons of small-run production work.

During her residency at Selkirk College, her exploration involves concepts of memory, recollection and the landscape imagery of her own history growing up in Alberta and British Columbia. She is curious about the industrially engineered structures that tinker across our landscapes—powerlines, railway tracks and trains—and the concept of connection as the overall intent of these human-made systems.
