Megan Carlson, Singer-Songwriter/Folk-Rock
Influenced by folk-rock, pop and modern indie music, Megan Carlson is excited to showcase a combination of original tunes and some of her favorite songs to cover. She has a very talented group of musicians joining her on stage that you won’t want to miss, along with Zoubi Arros working sound for the crew!
Having been brought up in a very musical household, Megan has always had a strong love for music embedded in her, however, she first found her passion for singing while growing up in White Rock, BC. She loves writing personal and relatable songs that anyone can enjoy listening to while also feeling something personal within themselves. She can’t wait to show Nelson a bit of what she loves to do. See you there!
Yohaan Gandevia, Jazz
Yohaan Gandevia plays fresh renditions of timeless jazz music from swing to bebop and Latin jazz. He is a jazz pianist and music educator who has been pursuing music full-time and is now an emerging artist for the past 10 years.
Initially starting with performing recitals in western classical music in India and receiving young talent and young artist of the year awards, he stumbled upon a video of an Italian jazz pianist playing a famous jazz standard which sparked his interest to switch from classical into the jazz genre.
Yohaan began his jazz studies by watching videos online through YouTube until he decided to take things further and pursue his studies at the Bill Evans Piano Academy in Paris where he completed two years of intensive jazz piano studies. He is now residing in Nelson, BC where he is continuing his jazz studies at Selkirk College with David Restivo and Mike Rud, as well as gigging as a jazz musician around in the Kootenays.
The shows are open to the public by donation at the Shambhala Music & Performance Hall on Nelson's Tenth Street Campus. Each evening features two 30-minute sets. Doors open at 7 pm and the show starts at 7:30 pm.
