Upcoming renovations to the servery area of the Ripple Café on the Castlegar Campus will enhance its look and functionality.
Starting the first week of December, the six-week project is part of a larger renovation project funded through the Columbia Basin Trust's partnership with regional post-secondary aimed at enhancing student life. It has already seen new furnishings and décor in the cafeteria alongside upgrades to lighting, power outlets and more.
“We are grateful to the Trust for its investment in our students’ well-being,” says Donna Drover, director of facilities & business services. “The generous support not only helps us to transform physical spaces but create a positive atmosphere that enhances the college experience."
Cafeteria Services During Renovation
While the renovation is underway, operating hours will remain the same and the seating area will still be open. A streamlined selection of menu items will be available.
- Beverages: Enjoy freshly brewed Oso Negro coffee, NUMI teas, hot chocolate and cold drinks, but specialty drinks will be paused. Don’t forget to bring your own cup! Reusable cups will be available for purchase, but the cup-swapping program will be on hold.
- Grab-and-go menu: Enjoy a variety of baked goods, yogurt, whole fruits, sandwiches, salad bowls and snack plates.
- Take-and-heat menu: Warm up and enjoy breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, soups and lunch feature meals.
What to Expect During Construction
- Noise and disruption: There will be some noise and temporary disruptions, primarily during working hours.
- Access limitations: The servery area will be temporarily closed during the renovation. Look out for alternative dining arrangements and access points.
- Safety protocols: Please observe all posted signage and follow instructions from construction personnel to ensure everyone's safety.
Thank you for your patience as we enhance our facilities! We look forward to welcoming you back to a refreshed servery area soon.
